“TANGO NO SEKKU”, CHILDREN’S DAY!

Our bilingual section is also working in the school Project about “THE WATER”. For this reason we are making KOINOBORI.

KOINOBORI, or Japanese Carp Streamers, are wind socks traditionally flown in Japan to celebrate “Tango no Sekku”, a traditional event which is now a national holiday: Children’s Day!

        The carp is for Japanese people the most spirited fish (so full of energy that it can fight its way up swift-running streams and cascades) Because of its strength and determination, they represent children as they are supposed to have the courage and ability to attain high goals.

HOW TO MAKE KOINOBORI:

Materials:

·         1 Toilet paper roll.

·         White paper.

·         Tissue paper.

·         Scissors.

·         Glue.

         Steps:

·         Cover the paper roll with a white sheet of paper.

·         Fold the tissue paper until you get a small square and then cut out a circle.

·         Cut the circles in two halfs and you will get the scales.

·         Glue the scales to the paper roll combining different colours.

·         Draw the fish eyes in a white paper.

·         Make some strips or bands with tissue paper and glue them at the bottom of the fish.

·         And you’ll get your own “Koinobori”.

Nuestra sección bilingüe también participa en el proyecto de centro sobre EL AGUA y por ello, los alumn@s de quinto, junto con sus teachers Sarai y Juanjo, han aprovechado la ocasión para realizar una manualidad llamada “Koinobori”.

Los KOINOBORI son unas banderas tradicionales japonesas con forma de carpa que se izan para conmemorar el Día del Niño, que se celebra el 5 de mayo. Para los japoneses la carpa es el pez más poderoso, ya que es capaz de nadar contracorriente e incluso remontar cascadas, de ahí que tradicionalmente lo hayan asociado a los niños, puesto que tienen la fuerza y energía suficientes para afrontar todo tipo de contratiempos.

De este modo, desde abril y durante los primeros días de mayo, se pueden ver estas banderas en todo el territorio nipón (con diferentes colores y tamaños) decorando edificios, sobre puentes, en praderas, etc

En nuestro centro, no queríamos quedar al margen de dicha celebración y con material reciclado hemos elaborado nuestros propios “koinobori”. 

En unos días les mostraremos el resultado final, mientras tanto vean como se divierten elaborándolos...

RECICLYING BOTTLES.

Day after day, people produce big amounts of rubbish… Fifth graders are very concerned about this and have decided to give an extra use to empty bottles from fizzy drinks …

This is what they have created…

If you want to make a  penguin too you will need:

·         2 Plastic bottles with the same size and shape.

·         Scissors.

·         Paint brush.

·         Paint (black, white and the colour you want to use for the hat).

·         Cloth.

·         Orange and black felt tip pens.

Once you get the materials, follow these steps:

·         Cut the bottles in the way shown in the picture.

·         Paint the bottles white.

·         Paint the hat of the penguin the colour you want.

·         Draw the form of the face(it´s like a heart)

·         Paint the body black.

·         Cut out the scarf from the cloth.

·         Tie the scarf to the penguin.

·         Paint the eyes and nose.

   

Los seres humanos producimos grandes cantidades de basura contaminando de este modo nuestro entorno. Los alumnos de 5º han querido poner su granito de arena para combatir el cambio climático y han decidido darle un uso extra a todas esas botellas de plástico que tiramos a diario creando unas bomboneras con forma de pingüino.

      Los resultados han sido excelentes  y los alumnos han disfrutado mucho con la actividad

SHAPES WITH PHINEAS AND FERB

During this term we are going to become cartoonists!!! 

We are going to learn how to draw some of the cartoon characters we see on TV every day, just by using a great and easy technique that consists on using simple shapes (rectangles, triangles, circles, …). We will start with Phineas and Ferb but if you want to practice at home, here you´ve got some videos that show you the steps you have to follow. Hope you like it!!!!
